What is it?

How does it work?

• copy and paste the complete command into your TeX or LaTeX preferred editor, or use a tool like Equation Service or LaTeX-it to typeset the equation into TeX FoG or into the clipboard;
• automatically paste the complete command into your LaTeX preferred editor, simply by clicking on the "Paste into…" button on the bottom left of TeX FoG's window, or hit command-option-V; what's selected into TeX FoG's window (or the full content of the window if nothing is selected) will be copied on the clipboard (please note that this will destroy any previous content of the clipboard) and pasted into your preferred LaTeX editor, at the insertion point. You can choose your preferred editor through the Preferences window (select the Preferences command in the TeX FoG menu, or hit command-,) among those currently supported:
  
  
  
  The "Paste into…" button will change its name accordingly to the selected LaTeX editor (starting from the next opened or newly created document);
• automatically typeset your equation (either what's selected in TeX FoG's window, or its full content if nothing is selected) using your LaTeX engine; simply click the "Typeset" button on the bottom right of TeX FoG's window or hit command-L and wait for the typesetting to complete. As an example, the following image shows the contents of a TeX FoG's window:
  
  
  
  Please note that only part of the text is selected; upon clicking on the "Typeset" button, the selection will be used to produce a pdf file (stored temporarily in the /tmp folder on your hard disk) with the typeset equation; the pdf file will be automatically shown with your preferred pdf viewer:
  
  
  
  You can then copy-paste the image, save it elsewhere or do whatever you like with it. In order for typesetting to work correctly, you need to specify in the Preferences window (select the Preferences command in the TeX FoG menu, or hit command-,) the folders where your LaTeX and Ghostscript engines are located:
  
  
  
  Consult the documentation of your LaTeX installation (if you use TeXShop, you can simply look at its Preferences window) for these paths;
• save the file to disk through the provided menu commands.
