Working With Extractions


Creating an Extraction

For each movie in the Tray, you can create one or more extractions. Extractions are a portion of a movie that may be repurposed as an image, an image sequence, a contact sheet or another movie clip.

To create an extraction, do one of the following:

To remove a selected extraction, press the delete key or click the "Extractions > Remove Extraction" option from the main menu.

Working With Extractions

The list of extractions for a movie are displayed to the left of the main window, next to the Tray. Extraction details are displayed on the right beneath the movie preview box. Each extraction has a label, generated by Deframe, that may be edited by the user. The label is used to construct a filename when exporting. The extraction is previewed in the center of the project window. For Image Sequence extraction previews, click the "Enlarge" button or double-clicking a particular image to display it using the entire preview area.

The scrub slider shows a single playhead for Image extractions. For other extraction types, the slider shows in-time and out-time handles.

The extraction details header text changes to reflect the extraction type. The two buttons next, to the right of the header, allow you to export an extraction and/or lock the extraction settings to prevent accidental changes.

Specifying Extraction Times

Dragging the scrub slider provides a method for getting the gross timing correct for your extractions. For finer control, double-click the playhead or either the in-time or the out-time handles. The time indicator will to turn red indicating Precise Timing Mode. If the scrub slider is showing both an in-time and out-time handle, the handle you clicked will turn red, the other handle will not.

To exit Precise Timing Mode, press the escape key

Filtering and Sorting

To limit the items displayed in the extraction table, click the Filter button to the right of the tables header.

Extractions can be filtered by label, type and their starting time within the movie.

Extractions may also be sorted by type and start or finish time.
